Don Bosco Youth Technical Institute is one of the largest private colleges in Malawi; magnificently built right in the centre of the most populated location of Areas 23, approximately 12km from the centre of Lilongwe City. It is home to over 600 students and 30 staff.
The college offers a wide variety of courses to Advanced Diploma level such as Accounting, Automobile, Construction(Bricklaying/Carpentry & Joinery), Electrical Engineering, Catering & Hotel Management, Information Technology and Fashion & Beauty.
With the essential qualities of School, Home, Church and playground Don Bosco College provides a conducive learning environment where life is celebrated and friends are made
Developments will continue over the coming years with the development of new facilities for students and staff. Plans are in place to improve the existing Workshops, Classrooms, Computer Labs, Offices and Library. Answering to the market demand new courses will be introduced in the near future.
A SAD START AT DON BOSCO COLLEGE - LL
9th January 2012, so bright a day as it started, so promising to a larger group of students seen around campus, greeting one another with merry faces, sharing good memories of Christmas and new year celebrations. It’s the first day on campus for year1 students who have come to study accounting, Hospitality management and ICT, its term2 for continuing students in Automibile mechanics, construction, Fashion Arts & Beauty and Electrical Installation courses and its first semester for continuing students in Hospitality Management, Accounting and ICT.
The joy, happiness was short lived as sad news roamed around campus of the demise of Francis Mphatso Chalendewa who until his death was a student in Automobile Mechanics. At the assembly area, Don Bosco flags fly low confirming the lose of a beloved student late Francis Mphatso Chalendewa who passed away on the night of 8th January 2012.

DON BOSCO COLLEGE NEW YEAR STAFF GATHERING 06-01-2012
Staff and Management of Don Bosco College met this Friday 6th of January after a Christmas cerebration held on 15th December 2011 marking the end of 2011 academic year. The aim of the meeting was to evaluate the year 2011, plan for 2012 and review the responsibilities of the staff members in the year. The meeting started with the welcoming remarks by Mr. Joseph Phelatu who was the chair of the meeting followed by the briefing of the New Year responsibilities by the Principal Fr. Michael Mbandama as follows though some changes may arise as the time goes;

Later Bro. Walter who is the previous Principal of the College shared his experience in his life after Lilongwe with the entire staff. In his sharing he mostly emphasized on the responsibility meaning, importance and results. He finally concluded with the Salesian preventive system which he said must be observed among staff of Don Bosco Communities particularly Don Bosco Instructors. He encouraged staff to always be where students are be it at the sports ground, drama or music. “We cannot lose anything by being with the young people (Students) for one or two hours,” he emphasized in his joking way as he concluded his presentation.
The day ended with a communal lunch in the Savio Café with a nice meal prepared by Hotel and Catering Management section where the Salesian community comprising of the Rector Fr. Kim, the Parish Priest, Fr. Makina, youth Coordinator, Deacon Jerome and Bro. Kenny Mubanga together with the staff gathered just before Bro. Walter started off back to Zambia. Fr. Michael escorted his predecessor to the bus station.
